Document Delivery

Document Delivery

FOR THE USERS
At libraries you can have copies of periodicals or parts of volumes owned by other Italian or foreign libraries (document delivery service).
You may be charged for this service.

How to access the service: the methods change in the different libraries
If your reference library provides it, you can request articles online through the NILDE service.
See the tutorial or follow these instructions:

  1. go to NILDE homepage
  2. select IDEM-GARR institutional login and choose the 'University of Turin' Home Organisation
  3. provide your Unito credentials
  4. select your reference library and read the conditions of service provision
  5. enter the bibliographical references of the needed article

If you request articles with NILDE service, you can follow via the web the processing of your request.
You will still have to go to the library to pick up a copy of the article, as required by copyright law.
The timing of supply and the type of material (paper or digital copy) depend on the specific regulations of the supplying libraries.
Before activating a request to supply copy articles, always remember to check in the Unito Catalogue and the Italian Periodicals Catalogue (ACNP) that the journal is not already available in the University in digital or in paper copy.

Access time: normally corresponds to the office hours in charge
Restrictions: the service operates within the limits allowed by the copyright law in force and the contractual agreements signed with the various publishers, which often also regulate the documents sending.
Penalties may apply in case of lacking to material pick up.
For more details see the libraries' websites.

FOR THE LIBRARIES
Italian and foreign libraries may request the University of Turin libraries to send reproductions of articles or parts of volumes.
The methods for providing the service are described on the libraries' websites. The University of Turin is a member of the national NILDE project.
